I saw a post recently for a chai smoothie and knew I had to try to make my own. Not only do we love smoothies for breakfast, but Jeff is a HUGE chai tea fan. Huge. So a little googling reminded me of all those delicious chai spices, many of which were in my pantry. The bananas add a thick, creamy texture and are a filling addition to the smoothies. I peeled my bananas the night before and cut them into a few large chunks before putting them into the freezer. In the morning, just toss all the ingredients in your blender, purée and enjoy. We used almond milk in ours, but you could use raw milk, water or water with a little full fat coconut milk. Hope you enjoy this as much as we did!
Chai Banana Smoothie
- 3 frozen ripe (not overripe) bananas
- 2 C unsweetened almond milk (or milk of your choice)
- 1 T raw local honey
- 1/2 t vanilla
- 1/2 t ground ginger
- 1/2 t ground cinnamon
- 1/2 t ground cloves
- 1/8 t ground nutmeg
- 2 T organic black chia seeds
Add all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth. Drink and enjoy!
